The Indian gooseberry which is locally known as Amla, truly deserves its status. It is not only our favorite because of its health and curative properties, but also because of the fact that it is close to Laksmi and Narayan. Get to know why Amla fruit is dear to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.
Amla or Neelikkai is considered sacred by Hindus, as it is closely associated with Lord Vishnu.
According to Hindu scriptures, Amla tree is originated from Lord Vishnu’s mouth.
In other Hindu beliefs, Amla is said to have been created from the drops of Amrit which spilled on earth accidentally.
Some Hindu’s believe that Goddess Laksmi resides in this tree and some believe that Lord Vishnu dwells in its fruit.
Goddess Laksmi is notably worshiped with Amla leaves in the month Margashirsha.
The Amla fruit is widely recommended in Ayurveda and every part of this plant is regarded useful.
Amlais constantly either credited or related to Sree Adi Sankara’s hymns such as Hastamalaka Stotram and Kanakadhara Stotram.
The Amla tree is worshiped on Amalaki Ekadashi, wherein devotees observe fast and singing Bhajans praising Lord Vishnu.
