Mother of Herbs

Artemisia vulgaris L. (common mugwort) is a species with great importance in the history of medicine and was called the “mother of herbs” in the Middle Ages.  It is a common herbaceous plant that exhibits high morphological and phytochemical variability. This species is well known almost all over the world as the herb is rich in essential oil, flavonoids, and sesquiterpenoids lactones. The European Pharmacopoeia has listed this species as a potential homeopathic raw material. Moreover, this species has been used in traditional medicine to regulate the functioning of the gastrointestinal system and to treat various gynecological diseases. Surendra Parihar

Crinum bulbispermum Orange River lily  It "is a tender perennial bulb in the Amaryllis family. The species is native to wet marginal areas of South Africa, including the Orange River valley from which it derives its sometimes used common name ..." "Crinum bulbispermum is the floral emblem of the Free State province of South Africa." One can find this flower in the centre of the emblem." "The Orange River lily is used in traditional medicine to help relieve rheumatism, varicose veins and the reduction of swelling. It is also believed, by some, to protect homes from evil."
