Dillenia indica Linn. Family - Dilleniaceae Common name - Oou (Elephant apple) Medicinal uses - 1. In Northern India, the juice of leaves & bark were mixed & given orally treatment of cancer & diarrhea. 2. Antimicrobial, antioxidant, analgestic, anti - inflammatory. 3. The leaves & bark are used as a laxative & astringent. 4. The fruit & the juice of the plant are used as Diabetes Mellitus. 5. Scabies & skin pigmentation of the skin can be cured by applying the paste of the bark in the affected area. 6. Aerial part of Dillenia indica in oral or topical preparations to treat abdominal & joint pain, cough, fever, dysentery, tumour, toning up the nervous system & removing fatigue.
