SURRENDER AND SELF-RELIANCE
Self-reliance needs enormous courage.
Surrender needs less courage.
A person who cannot surrender cannot be self-reliant either.
If you don't have enough courage to surrender, then it is impossible for you to be self-reliant. You simply fool yourself. People who are afraid to surrender fool themselves. Because even a little fear is detrimental to self-reliance.
If you don't have a hundred dollars, you cannot have a thousand dollars.
Self-reliance contains surrender. Fifty dollars contains ten dollars.
Question: Why does self-reliance need so much courage?
When you want to depend on yourself for everything, there is nobody else, then it needs a lot of courage.
Often people think that surrender is a way to escape from responsibility and they end up blaming the Divine for all their problems. In fact, the true surrender is taking total responsibility for everything.
Susannah: How can we do that?
You take responsibility and you pray for help.
Surrender eventually leads you to self-reliance. Because there is nothing other than the Big Self.

समर्पण और आत्म-निर्भरता
आत्मा-निर्भरता के लिए अपार साहस की आवश्यकता है। जब और कोई नहीं है, या तुम पूर्ण रूप से आत्मनिर्भर होना चाहते हो, तो बहुत साहस चाहिए ।
समर्पण के लिए कम साहस चाहिए।
जो व्यक्ति समर्पित नहीं हो सकता, वह आत्म- निर्भर भी नहीं बन सकता । यदि तुममें समर्पण के लिए आवश्यक साहस नहीं है, तब तुम्हारे लिए आत्म-निर्भर बनना भी संभव नहीं; तुम व्यर्थ ही अपने आप को धोखा दे रहे हो। क्योकि लेशमात्र भय भी आत्म-निर्भरता में बाधक है।
यदि तुम्हारे पास सौ रुपय नहीं है, तो तुम्हारे पास एक हजार रुपय भी नहीं हो सकते है। आत्म-निर्भरता में समर्पण निहित है। पचास रुपय में दस रुपय निहित है।
प्रायः लोग समझते है कि समर्पण एक अच्छा रास्ता है जिम्मेदारियों से छुटकारा पाने का। और अंत में वे अपनी सभी समस्याओ के लिए ईश्वर को दोषी ठहराते है। वास्तव में सम्पूर्ण दायित्व लेना ही सच्चा समर्पण है।
प्रश्न: हम ऐसा कैसे करें?
श्री श्री: दायित्व लो, और प्रार्थना करो सहायता के लिए।
अंततः समर्पण ही तुम्हें आत्म - निर्भरता की ओर अग्रसर करता है , क्योंकि परम- आत्मा के सिवाय कुछ है ही नहीं।
