Fountain of Joy

*ASHTAVAKRA GITA* Chapter - 6 Fountain Of Joy अहो निरंजनः शान्तो बोधोऽहं प्रकृतेः । परःएतावन्तमहं कालं मोहेनैव विडम्बितः ॥ Janaka said what a joke it had been! That, he was beyond the qualities, the three Gunas and the nature of his body. That, his body was restless because rajoguna was dominating. That it felt tired and sleepy when tamoguna dominated. And, when he felt very clear and very joyful, sattvaguna was dominating. And that these never stayed constant. They arose and subsided but that he had nothing to do with them. He was seperate from them. He was untouched. निरंजन: अहो! He felt that he had been kept captive by time, and deep inside him he was so peaceful! His nature was peace! Where was he looking for peace? Here and there, doing this and that! अहो निरंजनः शान्तो बोधोऽहं प्रकृतेः परः It was a realization; just a knock, a few words, touch and clear the whole system. The knowledge was right there. Just as in Hollow and Empty. One closes the eyes and sees and exclaims, 'Y...

I see life as a miracle

I see life as a miracle. The blooming of flowers, colours in nature, the diversity in flora and fauna is all a matter of wonder and an absolute Miracle.    Being on the path I am ever so grateful for this miraculous journey of life. I feel each moment is a Miracle, it’s just a matter of opening our eyes and seeing life with a sense of wonder that miracles manifest again and again.  Sharing one such miracle of Grace in my life for which I am so very grateful to my Guru, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Guru Poornima 2004 : An auspicious day to honour and commemorate one's Guru - a day of gratitude and joy in every Sadhak’s life. It was a day full of excitement as i was so looking forward to attending the Guru Poornima satsang with my friends in the evening. It was around 4 pm that evening, as I was readying my saree whilst simultaneously finalising pick up points for the long drive to the venue, that my husband Satish complained of extreme discomfort in his throat....

Singing, Communication and Ego

Weekly Knowledge 167 Geilo 19 Aug 1998  Norway Singing, Communication and Ego There are three modes of communication: in head to head communication you talk, in heart to heart communication you sing, and soul to soul communication happens in silence. When you meet with people, often you communicate from head to head. When you are with nature, you start singing, you communicate with nature from your heart. Often when you are with people you keep talking, blabbering, and you keep the communication on the level of the head only. But when you are with nature, you start humming and your communication comes through the heart. And when you are with the guru, you go blank and forget all the questions. Then communication comes through the soul in silence. When you meet with people, you like to remain in the head, you seldom sing with people (other than when it is organised). Your ego obstructs you from singing. Many do not feel comfortable singing with people. When you sing with people then...

An Account of my First Solo Day-Trip...

June is the time for my annual 15 days break. Usually we go out of town during this time, but this summer we decided to stay at home. To do something exciting, I planned a solo day-trip to some places I have never visited in Delhi.  After working on the logistics of the trip, I started the day early, around 7:30 am on Thursday, 8th June. I have been driving a car for the past 20 years, but my sense of direction needs improvement. Recalling the names of the roads, or following a route was always difficult for me. If someone else is driving, I'll never pay attention to the route. Throughout the journey I would just watch the scenery, listen to music, feel the cool breeze, observe people on the road or those in the passing vehicles, or just note the number plates of the vehicles on the road and mentally make some interesting permutations and combinations. I would ignore all the important landmarks on the entire route. Whenever I had to drive to an unfamiliar location, I would start wi...

Amazing Wisdom by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Many a time, you become angry or miserable because of the feverishness for perfection. If you are too much of a perfectionist, you are bound to be an angry person. In a state of ignorance, imperfection is natural and perfection is an effort. In a state of wisdom or enlightenment, imperfection is an effort; perfection is unavoidable! When you are in ‘vairagya’ (dispassion), you can take care of even insignificant things with perfection. Perfection is the very nature of the Enlightened One. When we are joyful, we don’t look for perfection. If you are looking for perfection, you are not at the source of joy. Joy is the realisation that there is no vacation from wisdom. The world appears imperfect on the surface but, underneath, all is perfect. Perfection hides; imperfection shows off. The wise will not stay on the surface but will probe into the depth. Things are not blurred; your vision is blurred. Infinite actions prevail in the wholeness of consciousness, and yet, the consc...

The Best Interviewer – My Guru

We all know that meeting Guruji is a great task and definitely an opportunity that we all seek. But He has his own ways. With a magician like him around, miracles are sure to happen and mine too was one such miracle. Meeting my life partner is only Guru’s grace. Ram is a wonderful person but I had made up my mind that I was going to do whatever Guruji said. As I was coming back with Guruji from Amritsar to Delhi in the same flight, I was sure that I would get a good chance to talk to Him. There would be less number of people on board and all would be well behaved and would not mob him. Getting a chance to speak with Guruji, I immediately asked Him whether I should get married. He replied saying “Yes Of course”. I told Guruji that He would have to meet the boy and take his interview. All along, my mind wondered how that would be possible. I also told Guruji my problems and setup. He yet told me to go ahead.  Once again I repeated that I would do so only if Guruji met him...
