MANAGEMENT OF PAIN WITH AYURVEDA - 1

MANAGEMENT OF PAIN WITH AYURVEDA - 1 Usually we manage the pain with VAATASHAAMAK CHIKITSA  but  we need to consider the  DUSHTI OF RAKTA in all painful conditions. 1-A Management of Pain In Ayurveda RAKTA DUSHTI Rakta Dushti means disturbance in the physiological functions of Doshas in Rakta. Rakta Dushti can cause many kinds of pains --- Joint pains - Rakta Dushti can cause inflammation and pain in the joints, which is similar to the symptoms of arthritis. CHAKRAPANIDATTA

CHAKRAPANIDATTA---- Around 1066 A.D., flourished an Ayurvedic physician, Chakrapanidatta, who composed a large number of treatises on different aspects of Ayurveda.  Chakrapanidatta has given an account of himself in his book Chikitsa-sara-samgraha : "The author of this work is Chakrapani who belongs to the family of Lodhravati, and who is youngest brother of Banu and the son of Narayana, the Superintendent of the Kitchen of Nayapala the King of Gour". His teacher was Naradatta. The Chikitsa-sar-samgraha is composed on the lines of Vrinda's Siddha Yoga, but in comparison with the latter, it contains more and newer prescriptions ; it also makes use of more metals in its prescriptions. A commentary called Ratnaprabha was written on it by Nischal in the twelfth.or thirteenth century.; another commentary entitled Tatvachandrika was composed by Shivdas Sen in the fifteenth or sixteenth century. The Dravya-gun-samgraha is another treatise uhich gives details about the exact qua...

TWO TYPES OF DISEASED PERSONS – GURU VYAADHITA AND KAGHU VYAADHITA – VIMAANA STHAAN 7/3

TWO TYPES OF DISEASED PERSONS – GURU VYAADHITA AND KAGHU VYAADHITA – VIMAANA STHAAN 7/3 Commentry – The persons, who are ill, are of two kinds usually. They are called vyaadhita because their appearance looks like a disease. These vyaadhita types are two – guru vyaadhita and laghu vyaadhita.  Someone who is having a serious disease but because of the good mental and physical strength appears to have a light disease, he should not be considered as laghu vyaadhita, but he is considered as having severe disease.  And the serious disease of that person appears lighter because of the indirect nature and same is the case with the person having some lighter disease.  Adhamatvaata iti means even worse than the worst.  Chakshushaiveti means the other sources of getting the knowledge, because sparshaadi are also specific sources to gain knowledge.  Roopama iti means the differentiated form.  Adhyavasaanta means deciding something. WHAT IS KAALA? – VIMAANA STHAANA 8/125

WHAT IS KAALA? – VIMAANA STHAANA 8/125 COMMENTRY BY CHAKRAPAANI – KAALA is the time of the year as well the stage of the patient. After the examination of the DESHA now KAALA or time is described. The year is divided into two parts based on the movement of earth, three parts based on hot and cold, six parts based on the seasons, 12 parts according to the months, 24 parts by PAKSHA (1 PAKSHA is 15 days), many types by PRAHARA (4 PRAHARA in one day).  TATATA KAARYAMA ITI means different types of function happen according to different parts like AYAN AADI.  SAADHAARANA means the season which is not even hot not even cold. PRAAVRISHAMA season is divided into two parts – first PRAAVRITA then VARSHAA. First PRAAVRITA shows the months of AASHAADHA and SHRAAVANA. Other seasons should be known consecutively after the VARSHAA, considering that every season has two months. This division of the seasons is bot necessarily according to the RASAS but it is explained here to show the rleavana...

The Charaka Saṃhitā (चरक संहिता) or "Compendium of Charaka"

The Charaka Saṃhitā (चरक संहिता) or "Compendium of Charaka" is an early text on Ayurveda (Indian traditional medicine). It is one of the two foundational texts of this field, both dating to the early centuries of the Common Era, alongside the Sushruta Samhita. Exact time of conceptualization cannot be said, but it is somewhat around 100 BC to 100 AD. It was written by one Maharishi Charak, as was told or narrated by his guru Maharishi Agnivesha. VVCM rasa mentioned in Bhaishajyratnavali Vaatavyaadhi Rogadhikaar

VVCM rasa mentioned in Bhaishajyratnavali Vaatavyaadhi Rogadhikaar. But there is something interesting to it. We need to interpret this correctly.. वातरोगं पित्तकृतं निहन्ति नात्र चिंतनं! 457 In practice, I have been trying to use VVCM many many times in Vaata vyadhis like MS, paralysis, and many more. But sorry to mention, I didnt find a single case where I could say that VVCM rasa has helped the patient in his Vaata vyaadhi. Why this is so? The probable answer lies in the above verse.  We need to chalk out the exact samprapti and work as Trisutra Ayurveda. We need to fix out the hetu and apply hetu viparita chikitsa. The Vaat vyaadhi where the hetus will be increase of Pittaj gunas for long and the syms would be of vaata vyaadhi, this medicine can be helpful. E.g. A pittaj prakriti person, having aggresive psychic nature, on pitta vardhak ahaar vihaar develops fibromyalgia. Now all the syms of fibromyalgia would fit into Vaata Vyaadhi classification BUT simple vaat shaamak chikit...

Treatment should be chalked out based on the DOSHA, DUSHYA, HETU, SROTAS AADI

दोषदूष्यनिदानानां विपरीतं हितं ध्रुवम्| उक्तानुक्तान् गदान् सर्वान् सम्यग्युक्तं नियच्छति||२९२||- CHARAK CHIKITSA 30 --even if many diseases ave not been described in the text, there treatment should be chalked out based on the DOSHA, DUSHYA, HETU, SROTAS AADI --CHAKRAPANI explains the important point is to know the ANSHANSHA KALPANA. For example if the VAATA DOSHA has been increased in all its parts or characters then the selection would be TAIL and if the VAATA DOSHA has been increased due to the increase in the SHEETA GUNA then the choice should be of some VAATASHAMAK USHNA DRAVYA and not the TAIL Vaidya Pawan Madaan

VERY IMPORTANT CONCEPT WHILE MANAGING VAATA ROGA --- SIDHI STHAAN 1

VERY IMPORTANT CONCEPT WHILE MANAGING VAATA ROGA --- SIDHI STHAAN 1 -- मेदःकफाभ्यामनिलो निरुद्धः शूलाङ्गसुप्तिश्वयथून् [१] करोति||५७||  स्नेहं तु युञ्जन्नबुधस्तु तस्मै संवर्धयत्येव हि तान् विकारान्|  रोगास्तथाऽन्येऽप्यवितर्क्यमाणाः परस्परेणावगृहीतमार्गाः||५८||  सन्दूषिता धातुभिरेव चान्यैः स्वैर्भेषजैर्नोपशम व्रजन्ति|५९|  MEDAH KAPHABHYAAMA ITI means MEDAS along with the KAPHA. Here the word ABUDHA has been used for those who when observe the pains and consider that the pains are due to the VAATA only and they start using SNEHA for this and they even don’t know about the AAVARANA.  It has also been explained at some other place also by the verse – KUPITE MAARGA SARONDHAAT…….. which means when there is VAATA PRAKOPE due to the obstruction in the channels by MEDA and KAPHA, then the SNEHANA and BRINGHANA measure should not be employed.  AVITARKYAMAANA means without proper knowledge. The line PARASPARENETI shows the reasons for the improper knowledge about this...

How to Interpret Phalshrutis

How to Interpret Phalshrutis.. This is a very very important topic to be discussed.  It has many implications.  Following are some points regarding the phalshruti.  1. ...Phalshruti.... in genaral means the Indications (clinical presentations) where that particular yoga can be used 2. ...The Indications mentioned under Phalshruti means.....this particular yog or medicine is the main Drug Of Choice in some of these listed....usually the first one or two. 3. ...Many times it means.....this medicines is extremely useful in... lets say Grahni ..when grahni is asaociated with kaas or grahni is associated with pandu. For example... Astadashaang loh is more useful in Paandu associated with krimi rog. 4. ...In many phalshrutis...the yog is useful when all the clinical symptoms associated or texted under that phalshruti are present.  Vaidya Pawan Madaan

SCROPHULARIACEAE

SCROPHULARIACEAE or the figwort family of flowering plants.  🌷It is a large family of about 65 genera and 1,700 species with worldwide distribution. This family is all about being beautiful but they're poor economists. It contains no crop plants of great economic importance but is notable for many ornamental garden plants, such as butterfly bush (Buddleja), Diascia, Nemesia, and many others. But some, such as the mullein (Verbascum), may be troublesome weeds. 🌷Members range from annual herbs to trees.  🌷Leaves are generally simple with smooth or sometimes toothed margins and usually arranged alternately or sometimes oppositely. They lack stipules. 🌷The family is characterized by bilaterally symmetrical, bisexual, tubular flowers with fused petals forming a two-lipped floral tube. The flowers are often produced on long spikes..  🌷Each flower has four stamens in most, two of which are usually shorter th...

EDIBLES OF APOCYNACEAE , CARISSA

EDIBLES OF APOCYNACEAE - CARISSA Apocynaceae family offers a great ambience with its ornamental climbers and flowers, but has little to offer on the edible platter, as most of its plant members exude toxic latex, and have leaves, flowers and fruits that are inedible and toxic to humans. In this pretty toxic family, one genera, Carissa, is kind enough to produce edible fruits for humans. However the fruits may be consumed raw only when fully ripe, and soft to touch. The unripe fruits of some species may be rich in latex and can be toxic.  Plants from the genus Carissa are salt tolerant, woody shrubs or small trees with spines on stems. They have simple, glossy, dark green leaves and strongly fragrant, tubular white flowers with 5 petals. The fruits are showy berries that mature to pinkish red and then deep purple in case of Carissa carandas (karonda) and deep crimson in case of Carissa macrocarpa (natal plum). The fruit tastes sour when it matures to the pinkish-red color but souris...
