Better The World Around You

12. Better The World Around You A river needs two bunks to flow. The difference between flood and normal river is that water flow is regulated in a river. During floods, water has no direction. Similarly, the energy in our life needs some direction to flow. If you don't give direction, it is all confusion.  Today, most people are confused because there is no direction in life. When you are happy, there is so much of life energy in you, but when this life energy doesn't know where to go, how to go, it gets stuck. When it stagnates, it rots.  For life, energy to move in a direction, commitment is essential. Life runs with commitment. If you observe every small thing or big thing in life, they go with certain commitment. A student takes admission in a school or college with a commitment.  Needless to say, a family runs on commitment - mother is committed to the child, child is committed to the parents, husband is committed to wife and wife is committed to husband...

Attaching the cause of our misery to this, this, and this, makes it concrete

Attaching the cause of our misery to this, this, and this, makes it concrete. This is ignorance. If you go a little deeper into something that you find as the cause, you will find that the cause is not there but it is a little further down. Have you noticed this?          For a particular situation you think that 'this' is the cause but when you go a little deeper, you will find that the cause is not there but it is somewhere else. So the cause keeps jumping. And believing that is the real cause makes our ignorance more concrete.          So when the whole universe is so complex, every event is complex, mind is even more complex, to get over this they brought this principle of Karma. And there is a lot about Karma — there is good karma and bad karma. And the karma that you do, you take the responsibility onto yourself, instead of blaming it on an event, situations, or people. - Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji

There are two types of masters in the tradition.

You know, there are two types of masters in the tradition. 1. Those who would give you boons, "Okay, what is it that you want? Some little thing here and there? Okay, have it, but rise above it". Granting boons, giving blessings, and getting you out of the maya (illusion or ignorance). 2. The other type of masters are a little different. They are very tough. If you want something, that's it, you will never have it. If you say that you want to go to Italy, finished, you will never be able to go to Italy. They will see to it that you drop your desires, you drop your passion and everything that you cling on to, and then you will rise above it. The previous generation of masters used to do that. They would make you realize, "Hey, my dear, you are much more than your mind, why are you so caught up in this little mind all the time". - Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji

He Might Delay But He Delivers- ALL THE TIME

Life has been nothing less than splendid after the Master came into my life. He has been there in mind and spirit even when the whole world has been against me. This incident happened in 2011. At that time I had just moved to a new building in Bombay along with my parents. From the very beginning, I did not feel good vibrations from that apartment. There was this particular watchman who was a thug and always used to pass lewd gestures at me and other women. Even after repeatedly admonishing him he would threaten me back saying that he did not do anything wrong. He used to drink also during working hours but nobody paid heed. I complained to my parents many a times but they just asked me to ignore him. But that man did not stop with his indecent activities. One day while I came back from a Satsang he passed a lewd gesture and I was livid. I fought with him and came back home and told my parents. I was reduced to tears when my parents started shouting at me saying that I should not mess ...

The Advance Effect

I am a Corporate Lawyer and am very regular in doing my kriya. I had gone to London to study Law and having done so, I came back to Mumbai to look for a job. For a whole year, I did not get a job anywhere, no matter where I applied. I was told that I had studied the Foreign Law, and not the Indian one. There was a big difference between the two. The failure at getting a job discouraged me and I felt as though I had no chance at all. As many people had said, ”If you want your dream to be fulfilled, you should do an Advance Course,” I went ahead and did the Advance Course in the Bangalore Ashram, in March 2012. I told Guruji my situation. After a month of my return to Mumbai, I got a very good job with a handsome pay. This is how the Advance Course really helps to fulfil all your dreams. With an advance course around the corner, miracles are not far away. Jai Guru Dev.  - A Devotee  https://srisristories.com/the-advance-effect/

What do we live for?

Question - Gurudev, what do we live for? Gurudev Sri Sri - First, make a list of what you don't live for. The purpose of life is not to be miserable and make others life miserable. Isn't it so? Then what is the purpose? How can we bring more happiness to the lives of others? How can we get connected to our inner being, our inner self? Find out who we are? That is spirituality and you are in the right place.

If love resides at the level of chetna (consciousness) alone, then what is the need of relationships?

Question - Gurudev, if love resides at the level of chetna (consciousness) alone, then what is the need of relationships? Gurudev Sri Sri - Consciousness expresses itself through the person. And relationships happen among different persons. If you do not feel the need for any relationship, then you cannot establish any relationship by force. The fact that you are asking a question about the need for relationships means you feel the need for relationships somewhere. Otherwise the question would not have arisen in the first place. You are struggling with yourself and feel the need for relationships, yet your ego comes in between and you feel, 'Oh I don't need any relationships. Or you are not sure whether you need or do not need relationships. That is why I say that whether relationships stand or fade away, you should not get affected. You just relax within your Self. When you meditate, keep everything aside and just repose in your Self. And while dealing or interacting with othe...

Take Out Time For Yourself

*11. Take Out Time For Yourself* If for the whole day you are engaged in only gathering information, you do not take out time for yourself to think and reflect. A few quiet moments are sources for creativity.  Some time during the day, sit for a few minutes, get into the cave of your heart, eyes closed, and kick the world away like a ball. But, during the day be 100% attached to the work.  Eventually, you will be able to be both attached and detached. This is the skill of living, the art of living. Renunciation refills your energy. Creativity cannot happen only just through efforts. There is a beautiful story about Chhatrapati Shivaji.  At one time Shivaji became so frustrated about ruling his kingdom that he went to his guru Samarth Ramdas and told him that he is fed up and that he just wants to renounce everything. Ramdas told him that he can renounce everything.  Shivaji became so happy and relaxed at the very thought. Then Ramdas told him “Now I am th...
