Ayurveda, A Holistic Path

Ayurveda, A Holistic Path It looks at the whole of one's life. Health and disease are byproducts of all aspects of one's life: nutrition, career, mental frame, family and social activities and spiritual life. If one area is weakened, all areas begin to suffer. If a person is unhappy at work, it will affect all other areas of life. The five senses are the gateways that bring in these influences; what one sees, hears, smells, touches, tastes affects all areas of health and life. The mind also plays a major role in how we act and react to the information and experiences gathered from the senses. When the mind is calm and clear, one handles a situation much better. The same situation, the same people or stresses exist at all times. How one deals with these situations will differ depending upon one's mental frame of mind. Western medicine has made significant progress in treating many diseases; however it has trouble curing major diseases of an aging population such ...

What to do with unfulfilled desires? The lifelong desire of prosperity in relationships goes unfulfilled. As time passes I feel frustrated, regretful, and my energy sapped. How do I manifest these desires and let them go?

Question - Gurudev, what to do with unfulfilled desires? The lifelong desire of prosperity in relationships goes unfulfilled. As time passes I feel frustrated, regretful, and my energy sapped. How do I manifest these desires and let them go? Gurudev Sri Sri - You say it is a lifelong desire. Is it really a lifelong desire? Did you have the same desire when you were a kid, or when you were a teenager? Just take a look at it. Is the desire worth all the effort and time you are putting into it? Or can your life be very useful in some other way? These are a few things that you need to ponder upon. As your energy builds up, let go and you will find that desires just happen. The more you hang onto them, the more you hold on and crave for it, the longer it takes. That is a fact.

SURRENDER - SHAME AND SHYNESS

Weekly Knowledge 63 London 22 Aug 1996  United Kingdom SURRENDER - SHAME AND SHYNESS In surrender the head bends and meets the heart. The head that does not bend has no value, and the head that is stiff will have to bend sometime, either in surrender or in shame.  The head that bends in surrender will never have to bend in shame. Shame accompanies arrogance.  Shyness accompanies Love. See how children are endowed with shyness, that is natural. Shyness is inherent. Shame is inflicted by society and is acquired. Shame brings guilt and shyness adds to oneÒ³ beauty. Retain your shyness and drop your shame. ...

Secret To Get Our Desires Fulfilled

*Secret To Get Our Desires Fulfilled* When the mind becomes empty, then any wish or desire that you have at that time instantly manifests. This is a great secret. When you finish doing the Sudarshan Kriya, then at the end your mind becomes so empty and at the same time, such happiness dawns from within.  You feel so strong and energetic. When all this happens, then any sincere wish or desire that you have starts to manifest and come true. How many of you here have had this experience that whatever you wish for starts to happen? (Many in the audience raise their hands)  When you do pranayama, Sudarshan Kriya and meditation, then any wish in your mind immediately gets fulfilled. Isn’t it so? You never have to cry or strain yourself for getting anything.  Whatever you wish for starts happening. So, do not wish for small trivial things in life. Wish for something big that will benefit everybody. - Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji

The most intelligent thing to do is

The most intelligent thing to do is not to hate anybody because whomsoever you hate, you get those impressions embedded in you. A gardener is working in the garden. When you work in a garden, you will definitely get dirty.  Your gloves will get dirty, your hands will get dirty, and your clothes will get some mud splashes. But after you come inside and wash up, you don’t identify yourself with the mud that got splashed onto you while you were working in the garden, right? In the same way, while we are in society, moving among people, the emotions of others get splashed onto our subtle mind and we start to identify with them. This is what becomes a problem. We identify, “Oh, this is my emotion - my anger and my greed”.  Whether the emotions are positive or negative, we identify with them and then we try to get rid of them. And it’s not an easy job. It’s like the gardener who thinks some mud that is on him will not go away. For example, you’re peacefully w...

Narcissus tazetta  Common names:  Narcissus,  Daffodil,  Jonquil,  Lent lily,  Nargis  Amaryllidaceae,  known in India as Nargis, daffodils are lily like perennials with numerous narrow, straplike leaves, and a single flowering stalk, all arising from a subterranean bulb.   There are about 50 species of daffodils, and many cultivars and hybrids.  Daffodils originated in Portugal, Spain, the southern coast of France and the northern coast of Morocco.  The name Narcissus has it origin in the famous Greek myth about Narcissus, the handsome youth who was granted his great good looks by the Gods.  However, his beauty was permanent and he was immortal, "If he never knows himself". Many nymphs fell in love with him, but he did not respond.  A nubile wood nymph named Echo fell desperately in love, but Narcissus spurned her.  She was so devastated by his rejection that she wept and wail...
