Rama Rahasya Upanishad

Rama Rahasya Upanishad Did you know that the Rama Rahasya Upanishad presents a goddess as the cause of creation, a god as the soul, both together as the source of all existence?  The Rama Rahasya Upanishad (राम रहस्य उपनिषत्), a minor Upanishadic text written in Sanskrit, exclusively devoted to the Hindu god Rama, is reportedly to have been composed in the modern era. It is one of the 31 Upanishads attached to the Atharvaveda, and classified as one of the 14 Vaishnava Upanishads. This Upanishad is largely recited by Hanuman, who states that Rama is identical to the supreme unchanging reality Brahman, same as major Hindu deities, and the means to satcitananda and liberation. Hence, it is also known as Hanumadukta-Ramopanishad. The text also includes sections on Tantra suggesting the Bīja mantra based on Rama. The text is presented in narrative form as replies by Hanuman to the questions posed to him by many rishis seeking true knowledge.  Han...

With the media reporting crime and negativity around the world, what do you think is their responsibility towards this violence that is happening? What do you think we should be doing differently?

Question - Gurudev, with the media reporting crime and negativity around the world, what do you think is their responsibility towards this violence that is happening? What do you think we should be doing differently? Gurudev Sri Sri - I think the media has two important roles to play. One is to place the facts in front of the people as they are. At the same time create hope in people for the future. You know, the present scenario can be very depressing. The media has to take responsibility not to create more depression in society. They have to give people hope. Suppose there is a riot, or a crisis, or a war, in that situation also there is hope, there are good people on the planet who are doing some very good work, this must be highlighted. Otherwise when you open the newspaper, all you see is bad news, which is depressing. The people feel that there is no hope in life because the world is so bad. The citizen of this world will not label society as bad or hopeless. This can happen only...

Why do I cry in satsangs and in some of the Art of Living courses?

Question - Gurudev, why do I cry in satsangs and in some of the Art of Living courses?  Gurudev Sri Sri - Why do you cry? I think you should laugh, isn't it? Smile. There is a shloka (verse) in the Upanishad which says, 'Bidhyanti hridaya granthi, Chidyanthe sarva samshayaha. Ksheenatechaasya karmani, Yasmin driste paraavare." - (Mandukya Upanishad). When you see the Beloved, the knots in your heart open and tears come. All doubts and questions vanish from the mind, and all bad karmas vanish. This is what has been said in the Upanishads. So you don't know why you are crying, it is because some knot in the heart is getting loosened up, getting opened - this is one thing. And there is s nothing wrong, when the heart blossoms tears come and emotions well up. Gratitude and love are also associated with tears, not only misery. These are called sweet tears. Quote is said in the Bhakti Sutras - The angels long for those drops of tears that come out of love. So you are very fo...

SURRENDER AND RESPONSIBILITY

Weekly Knowledge 57 San Jose, California 11 Jul 1996  USA SURRENDER AND RESPONSIBILITY Setting up a time-bound goal gives direction to the life force. Imagination is essential for this. Most people have a small imagination and are stuck with that, and that causes frustration. But if you are a devotee, you say "Let Thy Will be done" and then you will step lightly to the goal. You will take it easy. We have to make a distinction. Some people say "Let God do everything and surrender" and others say "I have to be responsible." Surrender is saying "Let Thy Will be done" and "Thy Will" for you is to take responsibility for the whole world. It appears to be opposing and conflicting in nature -- in fact they are two sides of the same coin. The more you surrender, the more responsive you become. One who is irresponsible cannot surrender either. Why is someone irresponsible? They are lazy or fearful or both. If you are lazy or fearful, you cannot...
