Relation between Brahman and this world

Chapter 2 - Neither Yes Nor No  Day 17  He is all - pervading, shining, body less untouched, he has no muscles. He is pure and sinless. The wise ones say that He is omniscient and self born. He has been functioning everywhere since eternity.  This question has been haunting mankind, especially in the Occident for a long time. If God is all, permeating then why do wrong things happen? Why is there misery? If God is all - permeating then there is no place for Satan. Either He is in Satan too or Satan does not exist.  If Satan exists, then God cannot be all permeating. You can say God permeates everywhere except in Satan. If God is Omniscient, Omnipotent, Omnipresent - these are the three qualities of God, the presence of Satan disqualifies God from all the three.  Because somebody has equal or more potency than Him, so He is not Omniscient or Omnipotent. He really is Omniscient, why would He allow Satan to function when He is functioning Himself? These...

Four types of people who pray to God

Chapter 6 - Love Is Beyond Proof  Day 47 There are four types of people who pray to God. In the world you can categorise 4 types of people : Aarta - One who is miserable, one who has problems nobody else can solve no doctors can, nobody can do anything about you, then you pray to God. Aarta-those who are miserable, they pray to God. Artharti - The second type of people who pray to God are those who want something, some gains, some material benefits, or whatever, satisfaction.  You will see just before the exams, students go to places of worship and pray, just before exams or just before results come out. Or if they have to go to an interview, people pray. Sometimes even for lottery tickets. While buying a lottery ticket people pray and say, “If I get the lottery, 10% I will give to you, God.”  If you go to shops, retail shops, even wholesale shops, they all have altars. And there they worship, they pray that the business should be very good, that they have mor...

Sri Sri’s Presence And Grace Itself Is The Biggest Miracle

It has been quite a while since I’ve been wanting to write about my experiences with Art of Living and having Sri Sri as a Guru. I keep reading other stories and while it fills my heart with immense joy, I kept waiting for the perfect miracle to happen to me, so I could also one day share my experience, my Guru story.  Let me start from the beginning. I did my first course in October 2009. I am an only child so when I was younger, I was pretty shy and had trouble making friends and opening up to new people. Somewhere in my mind, I thought I was lonely, and I wasn’t truly happy. However, I always wanted to change this feeling. I had attended an Art of Living satsang and was mesmerized when I saw just how blissful and happy all the people there were. I did not fully understand the reason for this and was curious to know their secret. I always thought, though, that AOL courses only took place in the Bangalore Ashram so I gave up hope. Luckily, a friend informed me of a cou...

How do I change that pattern?

Question - Gurudev, my best comes out when I am pushed against a wall. It becomes a matter of do or die. That's the time when have laser sharp focus, composure, drive and motivation to fulfil all my desires and intentions. But when I'm happy, comfortable and joyful, I can't seem to have that same composure and drive to motivate myself. How do I change that pattern? Gurudev Sri Sri - Then ask someone to push you against the wall (laughs). There are no walls here. If you're not married, get married. Tell your spouse to do it for you. If you think that your best will only come out if you are in danger and pushed against the wall, then you have put such an intention in your mind, and that's what is going to happen all the time. But you can do it even when you are happy, when you are joyful, and when you are free. But if you have recognised it as your pattern, then it is your responsibility. Nothing else can help you. Only you can help yourself. You can say, “Now, today ...

Having attained that love, that Divine love, one sees only that everywhere

Chapter 6 - Love Is Beyond Proof  Day 46 Having attained that love, that Divine love, one sees only that everywhere. Cannot but see only love. Even if someone is blaming you, you see some good in it. “See this person is pointing that out, it is good.” You don't see blame as blame.  You see that blame as an effort from that person to point out a mistake, which nobody dares to point out, or at the most, you see they are taking away some bad karma of yours. It is said if someone blames you for no reason, you should thank them twice. If anyone blames you, they are taking the bad karma away from you.  Someone who praises you, they are taking the good karma away from you. Now you choose what you want. So someone praises you, better praise back immediately. But when someone blames you, better keep quiet, otherwise you may take more bad karma from them, they may have bigger stock than you, bigger stuff, heavier duty than you.  You see only that perfection. When y...

Neihter Yes Nor No

Chapter 2 - Neihter Yes Nor No  Day 16  They made it even clearer. When you think it is everywhere you have an idea of it being stagnant. No. This space is lively, scintillating. It is not dead. It is farther than the farthest and nearer than the nearest. You are your self.  Have you thought about where you are in your body? Are you in your arms, heart or brain? Where are you? You are everywhere and yet nowhere. The heart transplant happens and people continue living. Many people who have undergone brain surgery had a portion of their brain removed. Still they are complete.  So, where are you? Inside as well as outside. There is no outside to it (self), there is no inside it. It’s something that is so subtle, difficult to explain, The Rishis have made an effort, the Upanishad have made an effort to bring it to your awareness.  It is closer than the closest and farther than the farthest. How do you like that? If anyone says something is very close to ...

Karna, the much misunderstood warrior, one of the main protagonists of the Hindu epic Mahābhārata and a tragic hero , went out of his way to somehow get trained by Parashurama. Karna had deceptively told Parashurama that he was Brahamana so that he could take him as disciple. Parasurama laid his palm on Karna's striking youth head, blessing him, He said I will teach you everything I know. Thus began the tutelage in Parashuaram's ashrama. Parashura...
