COMMENTRY – The MAHAABHOOTA like KHA (AAKAASHA) etc. KHAADAYA includes AAKAASHA, VAAYU, PRITHAVI, AGNI AND JALA. CHETNAASHASHTHAA – here the CHETNAA word means – which is the basis of the consciousness i.e. AATMAA. Here KHA AADI also means the sense organs which contain these KHA AADI MAHAABHOOTAS and which are unobstructed. This concept of PURUSHA of the AYURVEDA science has been taken from the VAISHESHIKA DARSHANA and it has also been said in SUSHRUTA SUTRA STHAANA 1 like – PANCHAMAHAABHOOTA SHARIRI SAMVAAYI PURUSHA SMRITAH. By the word SMRITAH – it has also been indicative of the description of the PURUSHA by the earlier sages or GURUS, and it is not imaginary here.
PURI SHARIRE SHETE means that which lives in the body, that AATMAA is called by the name PURUSHA, that is also called CHETNAA ETC. so in the context of the PURUSHA, here it is said like PURUSHA SANGAYAKA, because here the CHETNAA DHAATU ROOPA PURUSHA is not the one who is the object of treatment in the medical science, but in the texts and according to the contexts it has been named as similar like PURUSHA. And the one who is the object of the treatment that is certainly, the one who is made of the SHADADHAATU (5 MAHAABHOOTA + AATMAA), then it is not called PURUSHASANGYAKA but the PURUSHA itself. Similarly in the cow etc also there is a combination of SHADA DHAATU but because the human being is the most important of all so it has become famous by the name PURUSHA.
