Pomegranate - Punica granatum
The pomegranate (Punica granatum) is a fruit-bearing deciduous shrub in the family Lythraceae.
Pomegranates are rich in antioxidants and flavonoids, both of which are known to prevent free radicals from damaging our cells. In some studies, pomegranates show potential to be effective in preventing prostate, breast, lung, and colon cancers.
It also contains contains many nutrients and is a good source of vitamin E, which is an antioxidant; vitamin K, which is essential for blood clotting; magnesium, which helps in maintaining the blood pressure and glucose levels.
