Life is a combination of action and relaxation

Chapter 1 - The Password To Divinity

Day 12

There is a lot of energy around us: so much pressure all around us. A scientist can understand this because he sees from another dimension. Similarly a seeker understands, a gyani will understand. What you see as object, as matter is an infinitesimally small aspect of the entirety the totality.

The manifest universe is an insignificant portion of That, which is not manifest. That is what we are made up of. 99% of your own body is space element. Am atom has 99.9% space element. Space is God and relaxing into the space is It's realisation.

So actions which you can do and out of which you are not expecting any return, such actions though you are not expecting it,definitely give you joy. In fact it is wrong to say to say they bring you joy. They make you realize you are joy. Just imagine yourself as a fountain of joy or a flame of joy. What is obscuring that is this tendency to grab or want, whether it is material or spiritual.

Now you will say "Then what about jigyasa (curiosity), Gurudev”. You have said before, you should yearn for it. Unless you yearn for the Highest, you won't get it. Now you are saying completely the opposite - just sit and do nothing. Yes both are essential.

Till you come here you are being told to yearn for it. Once you have come here, I said relax. Till you catch the train you have to run. Once you are on the train you have to relax. That's why in the Gita Sri Krishna said “For one who wants to get on the pedestal of yoga, karma, selfless action is the path”.

Once you have got onto the platform, relaxation is the path. So, life is a combination of action and relaxation, Pravritti and Nivritti. If either of them is missing, life is not complete. People who are stuck in Pravritti are incomplete. People who are only retiring, only saying "I am doing nothing", just udasin (indifferent), no, it, so not going to work.
