Don't waste today on what happened yesterday. Wake up and say "I have the valor and courage to overcome this."

कल जो हुआ उस पर आज को व्यर्थ न करें। जागें और कहें "मेरे पास इस पर नियंत्रण पाने की वीरता और साहस है।"

Why is your prana moving? What makes your prana move? What makes your heart beat? What is the power behind all these involuntary functions that are happening within you?

*Chapter 2 - Opening Yourself To The Unknown* *Day 8* It is so beautiful! What is it that motivates our mind to go toward the senses and our senses to move towards the sense objects?  What is the motivating factor behind this involuntary function that is happening in us? Your breath is moving in and out day and night.  What is propelling it to do so? Why would your mind go to see nice things or hear melodious music or your nostril look for fragrance.?  Why are you motivated to move in these directions? Why do things appear beautiful or good to you sometimes and sometimes they don't?  You go to Hawaii and say, "Oh, Hawaii is so beautiful" But people who live in Hawaii, don't feel the same. What makes you appreciate things? Why is your prana moving? What makes your prana move? What makes your heart beat? What is the power behind all these involuntary functions that are happening within you?  What makes you speak? And what makes people speak? It's inter...

"Kena" means question. Kena Upanisad itself means: What ? Who? Where? When? Why? Before the age of three these questions don't arise at all in the mind.

*Chapter 2 - Opening Yourself To The Unknown* *Day 7* It is repeated twice - “It is. Let it be. Let it be”. Let the virtues the Dharma be ingrained deep in me, in every cell of my being and get established in me.  This is the prayer. Now the Upanishad begins. When you read this prayer, you may feel, "Oh is it a boot camp"? It says forget about your intellect and just surrender everything and be goody goody.  So, what is this being taught? Are you loosing yourself somewhere? Am I going to loose something?" What is there to loose It's saying shut your intellect and just be emotional, accept everything". Is that what is being said? No. The Upanisad always encourages the quest the enquiry. They encourage your intellectual brilliance by questioning. "Kena" means question. Kena Upanisad itself means: What ? Who? Where? When? Why? Before the age of three these questions don't arise at all in the mind.  You are in such a blissful state, but whe...

“Come on wake up, let the generosity in you blossom, you are so righteous. Come on wake up. Wake up to this reality." This is sattvic way of uplifting someone.

*Chapter 2 - Opening Yourself To The Unknown*  *Day 6* Opening yourself to the unknown Upanishad says when we start on this path, let there be no rejection. Acceptance is the path. Let there be no rejection at all, of any sort, because everything, every moment in life, pleasant and unpleasant is making you grow. Let all this righteousness, this knowledge and this wisdom that is contained in the Upanishads and that is present in my Soul, my Being, blossom. It is not some virtue that you are going to cultivate from outside.  It says that all the virtues are in you. They only have to blossom. If you think you don't have virtues or if you think you don't have faith.  If you think you don't have it, you don't have it. That is it. If you think you are no good that is how it will be. You will be no good at all forever. The virtues are in you.  It says "the virtues which are in my soul in my spirit let them blossom". May it find its own blossoming. Bless m...

"Whatever is happening in the body does not belong to me, and because the happenings in the body are not mine, I have no right to punish it." So, do not punish the body

Chapter 12 - The Body Is A Temple Day 61  This sutra is for advanced seekers. Who is an advanced seeker? This is for those who have already overcome laziness, who do not get angry or jealous and who feel a certain amount of contentment.  Since they are not yet fully content, the flower has not yet fully bloomed, but the bud is ready to blossom. This sutra is for this category of seekers.  Some people say, “I go to satsang, but something is missing. I am not content. There is some lack in my life. I sing bhajans and have organised many satsangs”.  “I've meditated, taught others meditation and had them sit and practice. Still, I am not satisfied”. This sutra is for people in this category.  Looking at all the happenings in the body with love and care is an observance. What has happened to us? We not only abuse others, but we abuse ourselves.  When children make noise the elders shout at them and the women swear. It is sheer chaos what happens in a...

When you are meditating, do not desire to see this or that. You do not need to see anything or to know where you are. This is how to be absorbed in oneself, to forget oneself and let the mind dissolve. Then the result will come naturally.

Chapter 11 - Complete Happiness  Day 59 Your goal is not somewhere outside of you. Do not sit looking at the sky thinking that Shiva will descend with a trident and say, "Child, I am happy with you. Tell me what you would like."  Shiva only appears like this in the movies or on stage. People hold onto these illusions. They look at the sky, and if the sky is bright one day and many meditators are looking at it, they get delusions.  This is called bhranti darshana, deluded visions. This is one problem in yoga. There will be some truth to it, so you cannot brush it aside as completely false.  It is a combination of both true and false. That is why it is called bhranti, meaning a mixture of both. We are surrounded by not one, not two but many delusions in life - it results in confusion. Those who are immersed in their own minds, in their self, enter into their peaceful nature. You can find peace only when you enter into your own mind. You find peace only when you are abs...

Gurudev, I’m very troubled thinking about all the karmas of my past life. Please advise me what should I do?

Question - Gurudev, I’m very troubled thinking about all the karmas of my past life. Please advise me what should I do?  Gurudev Sri Sri - Just know that the seeds of all such karmas of the past lives get burnt once you come here. So just relax and be happy. Suppose you have a house that has been locked away for a 100 years. Now you will ask, 'O Gurudev, how can one remove the darkness of 100 years in just a day?' I tell you, the moment the lamp of knowledge has been lit in your heart, all the darkness (of ignorance and negativity) vanishes away in an instant. In the same way, the seeds of all your past karmas burn away as you go deeper and deeper into self knowledge. When you realise with awareness that 'I am not this body, I am the eternal spirit', any negative effects of your past karmas will simply m disappear without affecting you.

Gurudev, for a Yogi this world is a penance, and for a Bhogi being alone is a penance. Can there be life beyond penance?

Question - Gurudev, for a Yogi this world is a penance, and for a Bhogi being alone is a penance. Can there be life beyond penance? Gurudev Sri Sri - Penance makes us strong. A Yogi is all alone in the forest and he feels happy. But when he is amongst people, and they pounce on him, pull his leg, or cause him pain, yet if he does not get angry and remains calm in his mind, then he has won. For a Yogi being alone is very easy. But for him to be comfortable and happy amongst people is a penance and a skill, which is necessary. Similarly, a Bhogi is very comfortable in a crowd. But if he gets depressed being alone, then eventually he will be unhappy being in a crowd too. Why is this? It is because there is no fulfilment inside. If you cannot be happy with yourself, then how can you be happy with others? That is why, when you spend some time in silence, and sometime by yourself, you become so content from inside. Then you will not long for attention, or for some praise from oth...

Gurudev, I have a girlfriend and we truly love each other and want to get married, but she is Manglik. My parents are against our marriage because of this. Please tell me what to do.

Question - Gurudev, I have a girlfriend and we truly love each other and want to get married, but she is Manglik. My parents are against our marriage because of this. Please tell me what to do. Gurudev Sri Sri - Look, if your parents believe in this and they have a strong feeling for it, then as you sow, so shall you reap (meaning - what you believe in, is what will bring the outcome). But if you say, 'God is beyond all that, and I have deep devotion in the Divine, and he will pull me out of all this', then it is a different thing. So you have to take steps in agreement with everyone. Whenever any Yagna (fire ceremony), or any auspicious work is to be done, the first step is to know everyone's agreement. In the beginning only, they generally ask, 'Is everyone in agreement to do this work? If everyone is in agreement then everyone will participate. So, all of you, sit down together and look at the situation and make a decision. If all of you feel that 'Go...
