SHIVA SUTRAS | What is a sign of consciousness? It is our enthusiasm, joy and creativity. Even if you cause some problems for others or make mischief, it does not matter.

*Chapter 3 - Bubbles On The Water* *Day 18* However, we are like a drunken man or a monkey. Our waking state is not wakeful at all. We act like a monkey that has been forced to drink alcohol and then eat asafetida.  In moments when you feel afraid or when your life is in danger, you wake up fully and become aware of everything around you.  A beginner cyclist spots each and every rock in the road, and as he sees rocks, he shouts, "Rock, Rock," and then in mid fall, he yells, "Falling, falling". If someone who is afraid of cockroaches gets out of bed, switches on the light and glimpses even a small cockroach, he will scream. He imagines it is a big cockroach. However, at that moment he is really awake. Similarly, if a person sees a snake, it is the worst.  He might even faint. We are not aware of the differences between the waking state, dreaming state and sleeping state.  When we get up in the morning, our eyes look drowsy. After having breakfast, we go out to work w...

SHIVA SUTRAS | Are you awake, sleeping or are you dreaming? The problem is that you are doing both. While you think you are awake, you are actually dreaming.

*Chapter 3 - Bubbles On The Water* *Day 17* Are you awake, sleeping or are you dreaming? The problem is that you are doing both. While you think you are awake, you are actually dreaming.  We do not notice the differences between the waking and dreaming states. That is why we try to make our dreams come true.  To consider dreams real is a sign of ignorance. Look at a child who starts crying after he wakes up from a dream.  He thinks that the dog that was chasing him in his dream was real, and so even after waking up he keeps crying and shouting, saying that a dog bit him.  While considering a dream as real is a sign of ignorance, understanding that reality is just like a dream is a sign of an enlightened person.  The main problem lies in not understanding the difference. Instead, you sit, day-dreaming. There are two types of dreams- a day-dream happens when we are awake, and dream happens when we are sleep. When you become aware that a thief has broken into your ...

SHIVA SUTRAS | What is this body? It is energy. Every atom in the body is energy. Energy is produced every day after we take food, and that energy goes back to the world.

*Chapter 2 - Energy Centres* *Day 15* For a computer to work properly, it needs to stay at the right temperature and be in proper condition. Our body is a super-computer, which is very delicate.  If a man-made computer requires a specific environment, then what do we need? Our bodies also require proper conditions.  That is to say the mind should be alert and aware, and the body should stay fit and active, which requires regular pranayama, exercise and so forth.  When you do pranayama, do it will full awareness and attention. When you work hard, only then can you enjoy rest, and that rest is where shivtattva is. When you direct your attention to the energy centers, the world gets annihilated. You yourself have to take apart your own world.  Nobody else can do it because you are responsible for creating your own world. There is a story about a very famous locksmith.  It was said that nobody could make a lock that could be compared with his locks. One ...

SHIVA SUTRAS | You have created this world. Only you can come out of it. The entire creation is a shakti chakra. Understand this truth and keep it close to you, then there will be no more duality in the mind.

*Chapter 2 - Energy Centres* *Day 16* In this way the whole world is one shakti chakra. Your life will end in 40-60 years. After that, the breath, mind and soul of this life will be recycled into a new body, which will also die and be recycled.  Everything in this world has a cycle. Whether a dog, cat, parrot, crow, or owl, all die only to be born as some other species in another womb.  This recycling is also known as punarjanma, or rebirth. This world is a wheel made up of different wombs. You are now born as a human, maybe a man or woman.  A rat may be born as a cat and the cat as some other creature. Understand that you take rebirth in the form that you adore, hate or fear.  The rat, which is afraid of the cat, dies with a cat impressed on its memory, and will be reborn as a cat. The cat hates the dog and so will be reborn as a dog.  If a dog fears man, it will take rebirth as a man. Humans are the only creature that scares everything. In this cen...

ZEN STORY | "This is where the gates of heaven open", Haquin said.

ZEN story "THE DOOR OF PARADISE" A soldier named Nobushige came to Hakuin and asked him: "Are there heaven and hell?" "Who are you?", Haquin asked. "I am a samurai!", replied the warrior. "You, soldier !?", exclaimed Hakuin. "Which ruler would want you as a guardian? Your face is like a beggar's." Nobushige was so enraged that he began to draw his sword, but Hakuin continued, "Well, you have a sword too!? Your weapon is probably too dull to cut my head off." When Nobushige drew his sword, Hakuin remarked, "This is where the gates of hell open!" At these words, the samurai, understanding the teacher's lesson, put his sword back in its scabbard and bowed. "This is where the gates of heaven open", Haquin said.

GURU STORIES | All I feel is so much gratitude for the Master. Just complete gratitude; such that I cannot express my love and gratefulness in words.

The most beautiful memory of Gurudev is that of the one with my father. My father was a Gurupooja Pundit. He completed the Gurupooja course in 2006, and I followed in 2007. Before that I completed the TTC (Teacher’s Training Course). Papa (father) was devoted to chanting many verses daily and he believed in Guruji immensely. In May 2012 papa was taken ill. It started out gradually with swellings in his feet, but his condition did not improve over time. The doctors said it might be a problem with his liver, but they couldn’t put a finger on exactly what it was. We decided to visit the Ayurveda Hospital first. My brother took him there. He underwent treatment for 6 days – various cleansing procedures. During this time, I was at my Sahej TTC (teachers training course). So in May he was at the hospital and when he came back he was slightly better than before. We all visited Srinathji (a temple) in Rajasthan (a state in India); my father believed in Srinathji very strongly too. ...

GURU STORIES | This is evidence that the Divine loves each one of us and takes away our pain even without our asking.

I had terrible and excruciating lower back pain while in the US. I had no clue how or why that developed. X-rays, ultra scans revealed nothing. But the cramps were so horrible that I was almost unable to even turn from one side to the other on the bed, especially in the nights.  Allopathic medicines to cure or mitigate the symptoms were of little help. I had also sought help from alternative cure therapies in the US like Reconnective therapy that works on the subtle aura of your body.  The pain used to mitigate for awhile but come back again. Then when I was in India I had sought panchakarma treatment. After a few sittings it seemed to get better but only for 3 months or so.  Then it so happened that there was an invite for all AOL volunteers to go to Bangalore and I had also gone along with other volunteers. After couple days of orientation and programs, we were all waiting for Gurudev's blessings.  I was just eagerly waiting for the gentle tap of Guruji...

ASHTAVAKRA GITA | You can enjoy the infinity of the universe, the stars and the magnanimous universe, without desire - the total giving of one Self, while at the same time desiring the betterment of the entire universe. Total fearlessness,

But the one who can see this universe as a maya, has surpassed curiosity. This is very interesting and important. See the world out of curiosity, or just see the world, but beyond curiosity. Monkeys are very curious. But, they don't wonder. Have you observed them? Give them anything and they'll open it, just like you! And they look so many times. Once a monkey took a necklace up a tree and then tore it apart. And one b...

ASHTAVAKRA GITA | One who has known one's Self knows that the entire universe is as amazing as one's own Self. So he is amazed. He is just wondering, and has no curiosity.

Without the ear, you can never feel how loud the sound is. So each sense gives you an idea about the universe. You measure it with them. That's why the universe is called Maya. 'Maya' means that which is being measured. It's all maya. That means it's all relative. If you have had a sweet, maybe a gulab jamun, and then you taste milk, coffee or tea. You feel there is no sugar in it. That's why there is the word 'understand'. 'Understand' is what is called tanmatra. The entire un...

ASHTAVAKRA GITA | What is the difference between wonder and curiosity? Curiosity is the beginning of the mind. Wonder is the end of the mind.

ASHTAVAKRA GITA | The craving for a future moment is desire. And what is lust? What is sex? Sex is coming totally to the present moment.

💐☘🌾☘🍀🍁🍀☘🌾☘💐         🌺 ASHTAVAKRA GITA🌺                      🌿Chapter - 13🌿                ~ Fear Is Like Salt ~                    🌱 Day - 67 🌱 💐☘🌾☘🍀🍁🍀☘🌾☘💐 Fear is the cause of orderliness. Fear is like salt, a little bit of it keeps one alert. Have you observed what happens in fear? You become awake in the present moment. You are totally in the 'here and now' during moments of fear. What is unpleasant about it is how it tears this physical body apart. The after effects of fear are very unpleasant. Fear creates an enormous amount of toxins, tearing this physical body apart, and that is what fear is about! Our main fear is about losing this body. It is the only fear. Yet fear brings you to the very moment, the present moment, and is so closely associated with the body. Fear starts to exist in th...

ASHTAVAKRA GITA | You are moved by people's words. If someone says something, you go mad and lose yourself. Why were you so shaken by these words?

The fulfilment of desires will neither give him any great joy nor will the unfulfilment of the desires in any way annoy him. You are against some things. Whatever you are against, press those buttons in you - making you angry. Behind your anger is your desire. Anger is the other end of your desire. Either you hang onto the desire or you get angry. Either you like sex or you get angry about sex. Either you like the f...
