If we do it consciously, it is mediation. It is much more powerful than sleep

*Chapter 7 - Alignment Of Planets* There is a story in the Puranas. There was a couple who did not have any children. So they prayed and it is said that God came to them in a dream and asked them what kind of son did they wanted. A stupid son with 100 years of life or an intelligent one with only 16 years of life? They opted for an intelligent boy with only 16 years of life.  Of course they got a son and they believed that when he was 15 years old he would die in one year. He was extraordinary, brilliant, and a genius and naturally the parents didn't like the idea of losing such a wonderful son.  So they prayed and it is said when the death call came, the boy sat in deep meditation and prayed and recited some mantras. He was granted another 16 years.  Today, people still recite the mantra made by this boy when there is some danger to life. It is well known in India.  One can remedy the effects of the planets by going beyond time, going beyond body conscio...

The only thing you must remember is how fortunate you are

*The only thing you must remember is how fortunate you are* When you forget this you become sad. Sorrow indicates your negative qualities, and your attachment to your positive qualities. When you think you are too good, you blame the world; then you become sad. The purpose of sorrow is to bring you back to the self. And self is all Joy. But this is possible only through Knowledge -- awareness. Knowledge or awareness leads sorrow towards the self. With lack of Knowledge, the same sorrow multiplies and does not get completed. Knowledge completes sorrow. With the power of Knowledge you transcend sorrow. In this path you have everything. We have this beautiful Knowledge which has all the flavors in it -- wisdom, laughter, seva, silence, singing, dancing, humor, celebration, yagyas, caring, complaints, problems, complications, and chaos to add color. Life is so colorful! Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji

In Sanskrit the word for health is Swastha. It means the one who is in the Self.

*Chapter 6 - Coping With Fear* Often you think you are a slave of your feelings. If you feel terrible, why do you feel so? You know you have the key and the capacity not to feel terrible and to come out of it.  This is because the core of our existence is much more powerful than our feelings. It is connected with the infinite energy, the source and the field that we are.  Then this - our very consciousness - the presence by which our body has grown in the womb and from childhood to adulthood also has the power to heal.  Our body has everything needed to repair it. Of course from time to time you can take some herbs, vitamins, medicines and food. All this will help.  There are four sources of energy. They are food, sleep, breath and meditation. You take help from these.  At the same time know that, it is the consciousness that is healing, and keeping you healthy. Just close your eyes for a moment.  Consider who is looking at what's happening. Of ...

Karmas are impressions in the mind and Love can eliminate all karma

*Chapter 8 - Karma* Karmas are impressions in the mind. If you watch box office movies, 10 times in a month, then even when you are somewhere else and you look at the sky or close your eyes. All the box office movies that you saw, roll through your mind. They may come to you in a dream too. These are deep impressions in the mind and they are the karma. Sometimes they get released.  Sometimes they get reinforced again and again. So we have to make a little effort to release them and the best way is with love.  Love can eliminate all karma. The second is with breathing. The breath will eliminate it. The third is with meditation, which can also eliminate karma.  The fourth is with service - any kind of service where you do something good to someone else. And when the soul in that body gets relief, there is a blessing that comes from that soul which brings you good karma.  The soul of someone who is suffering and to whom you give some relief, will bring bless...

How can anger be controlled?

*Chapter 9 - Controlling Anger* How can anger be controlled? First of all notice the sensations in your body. When you get angry where do you get the sensation - in the temples, head, throat and jaw.  Anger is experienced intensely from the throat to the head. Whenever you are in a situation when something irritating is happening and you are clenching your fist and your jaw. Observe what's happening to you. Observe your breath and your sensations before reacting. When you do so the anger will either subside or will be in your control. Then you can react or not react. You gain the choice to act on it or to just observe it and to let it go. All the negative emotions are offsprings of love.  You love perfection, so you are angry at imperfections. You love someone, so you are jealous about him or her.  You love people, so you feel jealous when they move away from you or talk to someone else. If you love objects too much, then you become greedy.  Excessive lov...

Stylidium tenellum Family : Stylidiaceae Common name: Trigger plant Habit : Herb

Stylidium tenellum Family : Stylidiaceae Common name: Trigger plant Habit : Herb Habitat : Marshy areas, waste lands Flowering: Sept - Jan Carnivory: Trigger plants are considered to be protocarnivorous (or subcarnivorous). They have glandular trichomes projecting from sepals. The tip of the trichome produces a sticky muscilage-a mixture of sugar polymers and water that is capable of attracting and suffocating small insects. Unlike true carnivorous species of plants, triggerplants are thought to not produce digestive enzymes and must rely on bacteria, fungi, or other decomposition processes to release the nutrients stored in the muscilage-bound prey.  @ Sweta Mishra

Tulasi and Ayurveda

Tulasi Most Sacred Plant...........     Yanmoole sarva tirthaani yannagre sarva devataa     Yanmadhye sarva vedaascha Tulasi taam namaamyaham.     I bow down to the Tulasi, at whose base (the roots) are all the holy places, at whose top reside all the deities (divinity), and in whose middle are all the Vedas. Tulasi is a gentle female energy, a sweet little goddess, and should be treated like the queen she is – the queen of medicinal plants. For she is also a plant of power, a powerful lady, a friend, a physician and an ally. When you have Tulasi around, you are protected, and she will bring beauty, health, elegance and grace into your life. Wherever there is Tulasi Mayi there is pavitrata, purity, for she is the great purifier, both of the body and of the environment. If you plant nine or eleven Tulasi trees in your garden the air will be pure within a wide radius, and bacteria-free. She is one of those trees that possess divine qualities to in...
