A seeker should also carry on his Seva, Sadhna, Satsang and Chanting daily to keep the mind shining

A Saint had the practise of cleaning his Lota( an indian pot for storing water) daily. One day his curious disciple asked him "O! My master why do you clean the pot daily? Is'nt it enough to clean it once a week? The Saint replied " Yes my dear , you are right , I shall clean it once a week hereafter.  From that day he stopped cleaning the pot. The shining pot was getting duller and duller day by day.One day the saint called the disciple and asked him to clean the pot. The pot was difficult to clean, it took a long time to clean. The disciple had to work harder to make the pot shining like before. The saint told his disciple , as long as the pot was cleaned daily it was shining. Like wise a seeker should also carry on his Seva, Sadhna, Satsang and Chanting daily to keep the mind shining. Even if it is not practised for single day it will dull the mind. Moral: Practise makes man perfect!!

I want more children to be educated in spirituality in order to create a violence-free and stress-free society. We need to globalize wisdom

Question - Gurudev, What is your biggest wish? What can I do to get closer to your heart? Gurudev Sri Sri - You are already close to my heart. I want more children to be educated in spirituality in order to create a violence-free and stress-free society. We need to globalize wisdom . There are one thousand of us here. If we each sponsor a child, we would do a great service. Do service. Donate two percent of your income. It would be of immense benefit to you and to those who need it.

What is the difference between Punya, Paap and Karma?

Question - Gurudev, What is the difference between Punya, Paap and Karma? Gurudev Sri Sri - Punya is debit card - pay first and enjoy later. Paap is credit card - enjoy first and pay later.  Karma is a restaurant, where there is no need to place order - We are served , what we have cooked.

Grace has empowered me from within and given me immense courage to take all challenges in my stride. Come what come may, I know there is an unseen hand that takes me through all adversities of life.

''If that unseen Force had not pushed us out of the flood waters, we would have surely drowned. This was nothing but a miraculous escape from death, thanks to the Master.'' says MAKRAND JADHAV, one of the leading trainers for the Art of Living's Youth Leadership Training Programme.  It was a late night in August 2011 and my friend and I were driving home from Katepur Village in Latur. It was raining heavily and there was water-logging all along the route. We were driving through an incessant heavy downpour and we could barely see the road ahead of us.  Suddenly, we realised that we were on a slope and the car started slipping off the road. We frantically applied the brakes and to our utter dismay, the car spiralled and did a 90 degree turn. The car started sinking as it entered a gushing water stream. For a moment it looked like a huge monster waiting to swallow us up. We lowered the windows, so that we could jump off. Suddenly, our car hit a t...

They are bliss, they want nothing for themselves and are here to spread happiness around them.

The names of many sanyasis end with “ananda”. Their very name reminds them that they are bliss, they want nothing for themselves and are here to spread happiness around them.          No man is an island entire of itself. If one person in a family is unhappy, it affects every other member. We are all interdependent on, and interconnected with, one another. Though happiness is an individual attitude, it is also linked to our environment. No one can claim to be happy when there are riots in the next street.          That’s why we need to take the responsibility of spreading wisdom and care for the happiness of others. - Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

The monk achieves self-realization and understands that anger is within him; it simply needs to hit an external object to provoke it.

A monk decides to meditate alone. Away from his monastery, he takes a boat and goes to the middle of the lake, closes his eyes and begins to meditate.  After a few hours of unperturbed silence, he suddenly feels the blow of another boat hitting his. With his eyes still closed, he feels his anger rising and, when he opens his eyes, he is ready to shout at the boatman who dared to disturb his meditation. But when he opened his eyes, saw that it was an empty boat, not tied up, floating in the middle of the lake… At that moment, the monk achieves self-realization and understands that anger is within him; it simply needs to hit an external object to provoke it. After that, whenever he meets someone who irritates or provokes his anger, he remembers: “The other person is just an empty boat. Anger is inside me.“
