When you are a nobody, who is sitting and meditating here. And on whom are you meditating? To which mantras are you attached? How could they think of it all as 'my mantra', 'my mala', 'my practices', 'my prayer'?

Next sutra is a little shocking; this is not for those who have not begun meditation.
เคค्เคฏाเคैเคต เคง्เคฏाเคจं เคธเคฐ्เคตเคค्เคฐ เคฎा เคिंเคिเคฆ्เคงृเคฆि เคงाเคฐเคฏ ।
เคเคค्เคฎा เคค्เคตं เคฎुเค्เคค เคเคตाเคธि เคिเคฎ เคตिเคฎृเคถ्เคฏ เคเคฐिเคท्เคฏเคธि ॥
This is very appropriate for people in the monasteries (especially Buddhist monasteries). เคค्เคฏाเคैเคต เคง्เคฏाเคจं เคธเคฐ्เคตเคค्เคฐ । Drop meditating. Who is meditating? Ashtavakra comes up with a thunderbolt and says, 'Stop meditation'. He says that when you are a nobody, who is sitting and meditating here. And on whom are you meditating? To which mantras are you attached? How could they think of it all as 'my mantra', 'my mala', 'my practices', 'my prayer'?
Once a family had come to see me. After retirement their dad had become very spiritual, and this had beocme a big problem for them. He would get up at 3 a.m., and move around the place making so much noise that nobody was able to sleep. Then, he would take a shower and begin to chant very loudly, thereby disturbing everybody. He would chant so loudly that even the neighbors began to complain! When they said anything to him, he would accuse them of being irreligious. He also complained to me about them, saying how the world has gone to rust! That they did not even allow him to say his prayers and to chant in the morning. This is what some consider as being 'very religious'!
I knew of an older couple. The man would leisurely take a bath after reading every letter of the newspaper. At around noon he would take a bath. Then, he would do puja till about 3pm. Till that time, everybody in home would have to starve. This was because, unless he finished the puja and offered the food to God first, nobody was supposed to eat. So the whole family, especially the wife had to starve. The kids would go out here and there, eating outside in hotels! But this elderly lady could not eat anything, because her husband has to finish his puja. She had to feed him first, and then only could she eat.
The religious practices are being done but they are only generating anger. While people are meditating, there may be disturbances. They get distracted and try to stop them. Where is your meditation if you are so angry? You are unfriendly and you say, "I am meditating".
